About RASA

Kim&Hans

rasa (sanskrit):
the 'taste" or essence of any impression;
the aesthetic experience in transcendence;
the emotional fulfillment of the soul;
the essence of Divine Love.

WELCOME !
The music of RASA is based on devotional songs from ancient India that have been creatively arranged for traditional Indian and contemporary Western instrumentation. RASA has enjoyed a warm embrace from their listeners throughout the United States for their soothing, spiritual, and sacred sound. Whether experiencing one of RASA's five CDs or a live concert, the musical presentation is always an elegant blend of Kim Waters' heartfelt vocals and Hans Christian's virtuosic playing. RASA has developed a sound that is truly 21st century traditional- an up-to-date blend of Eastern spirit and Western musicality...

- Kim Waters opens new art gallery in Sister Bay, Wisconsin
Kim Waters announces The Waters Gallery Opening, Saturday, June 27th 2009 from 5pm – 8pm.
Newly decorated, The Waters Gallery of Sister Bay, Wisconsin will feature the irresistible, fantasy-filled illustrations of Waters, as well as the photography and distinctive graphic art of Tim Erskine.

Kim Waters’ artistic achievements have been commented on by Donovan, George Harrison, and pop-artist Andy Warhol, who said of Waters’s works, “I love all of the illuminations... the colors are so beautiful.” Waters’s paintings and illustrations draw freely from Indian spiritual imagery, Persian miniature painting, Medieval and Renaissance illumination, Celtic folklore and Victorian book design. Employing her own unique combination of Western alchemical symbols and intricate borders, Waters introduces viewers to a rich and intriguing fantasy world.

The works of Tim Erskine in photography and graphic design bring technology and science to the forefront of artisting imaging. As a mechanical engineer himself, and the son of a nuclear physisist and an artist, Erskine draws inspiration from his knowledge of science and his enduring love of the arts. His contributions to Waters Gallery include a new series in the concept of circlism. With this series Erskine examines the relationships between solid matter and the cosmos, and, as in all of his works, hopes to show his own internal world of beauty. Both intrinsically simple and infinitely complex, Erskine brings the natural and divine into graceful and chic pieces that draw your eye and hold your gaze.

Waters, called "[f]ar more competent and elegant than your average art star..." by the Washington Post, opens the doors of Waters Gallery Saturday, June 27th at 5pm. Enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres, and the music of both Erskine and Waters unil 8pm. Waters Gallery is located at 2263 Waters End Road, Sister Bay, WI. New 2008 Hans Christian Solo Project
Hans' latest recording project has taken place in one of the world's most revered temples- the Chartres Cathedral in France! Called Sancta Camisia, this CD features contemplative solo cello improvisations inside the cathedral, in the cathedral crypt, and in an adjacent monastery chapel. Hans was invited by the Wisdom University from San Francisco to provide music for a weeklong pilgrimage and conference on the mysticism of the Chartes School, which was founded almost 1000 years ago. As the group walked the famous labyrinth in the cathedral, Hans was playing (and recording), and as the group descended into the crypt, Hans was also playing and recording, sitting right next to the ancient well that is underneath the cathedral, and where Celtic druids worshipped 3500 years ago... Available right here...

- Kim's art has its own website
Kim's paintings, prints and designs have now found their home on a separate website- www.kimwatersart.net.
Her prolific output just keeps on adding to her already substantial body of work, and a separate website can feature the art much better. Please visit her new site and be enchanted!

- Hans has two other websites
Hans Christian's work as a producer and composer has grown so much that his work is now featured on two other sites- www.recordingstudio330.com for his studio work with other artists;
and www.allemandemusic.com for his own musical projects.
